Tech Area QA Owner
Own the QA heartbeat of our Tech Area
If you’re looking to make the best co-op games in the world, you’ve come to the right place. We're proud to have some of the best game makers and collaborators in the industry working with us. What's more, we're a fun bunch of game developers, who love to indulge in our passion for video games together. Our games are not for everyone. Are they for you?
We are now looking for a Tech Area QA Owner
At Arrowhead, quality is a shared responsibility - but it needs clear ownership to scale across increasingly complex systems. Our QA function works closely with developers, production and external partners to ensure we deliver stable, performant and reliable player experiences.
We’re now looking for a Tech Area QA Owner to take ownership of technical quality within our Tech Area - covering Engine, Tools and Core Systems. This is a key role where you will act as the trusted technical QA voice, ensuring stability, performance and reliability are embedded into planning, design and delivery.
You will work closely with Tech Directors, Area Producers, Team Owners and the QA Manager to align priorities, manage technical risks and ensure testing efforts - both internal and external - operate as one cohesive system.
As our technical landscape grows in complexity and external dependencies, this role plays a critical part in ensuring technical QA scales predictably, with clear standards, strong collaboration and proactive risk management.
What You’ll Be Doing
Own technical QA outcomes within your Area - acting as the primary point of accountability for stability, performance, reliability and systemic risk.
Lead technical quality through collaboration and influence - partnering with Tech Directors, Engineers and Production to embed QA into design, implementation and decision-making.
Define and drive Area-level technical QA strategy, test planning and coverage across development, release and live - including performance, stability, memory, compatibility and platform considerations.
Coordinate internal and external QA contributors as one cohesive team - ensuring alignment on technical priorities, standards and ways of working.
Act as the main QA point of contact for technical testing across external Development QA, Co-Dev partners and other collaborators.
Drive visibility and decision-making through clear technical QA reporting, effective/impactful triaging, risk assessment, and tracking of systemic issues and trends.
Champion technical QA practices and developer enablement - acting as a critical friend by supporting and challenging engineers in building effective testing approaches and integrating quality into their day-to-day work.
Balance technical debt, delivery constraints and player-facing risk - guiding where QA effort will have the highest impact.
Stay close to the product and systems through hands-on involvement when needed - validating assumptions, investigating risks and grounding decisions in real outcomes.
We Think You’ll Be a Great Fit If You…
Have solid experience working with Development QA in a technical or systems-heavy game development environment.
Understand how to test and validate complex systems - including performance, stability and reliability across different platforms and stages of development.
Are comfortable owning technical quality outcomes end-to-end, applying sound judgement to balance quality, scope, risk and delivery constraints.
Bring leadership through influence - aligning engineers, producers and QA contributors around clear technical priorities, standards and practices.
Communicate clearly and proactively, making complex technical quality topics understandable and actionable.
Are comfortable giving constructive feedback to deeply technical developers, assertively driving improvement in technical teams to uplift quality.
Enjoy creating structure, improving ways of working and driving continuous improvement across teams and systems.
Are able to operate both hands-on and strategically - from investigating issues to shaping long-term technical QA approaches.
Are collaborative, pragmatic and quality-driven, with strong written and spoken English.
