Use your creativity as a Character Artist to create creatures, humanoids, robots and all different types of enemies for our next-gen AAA project! 

As a Character Artist at Arrowhead you are involved in the process of taking both playable and non-playable characters and character assets from early stages of development, sometimes without concepts, through proofing, mock-up and to game ready levels. The main focus is on Hard Surface characters such as creatures, humanoids and robots, however from time to time you will also create more organic characters. 

You’re more than just a content creator: At Arrowhead you have a lot of freedom, autonomy and the opportunity to develop your skills in a direction you help decide. You are a part of a dedicated feature team (The AI team, a.k.a. the “A” team) consisting of animators, designers and other artists. Of course you also co-op closely with the studio's producer, art director, and game director to help make our game vision a reality! 

Your contribution

As a Hard Surface Character Artist, your main tasks and responsibilities are: 

  • Create game ready characters and assets for both playable and non playable characters;
  • Co-op and proof character designs with concept artists and animators;  
  • Co-op with feature team to test and feedback on designs and features;
  • Participate in sprint meetings to set up realistic completion timelines.

At Arrowhead each team member has an important influence on the game and is involved in the decision-making process. We offer a motivating and creative environment where small groups work independently and in cross-disciplinary feature teams. 

Our requirements

Do you recognize yourself in the following? 

  • You have at least 5 years of experience as a 3D artist in the games industry;
  • You have been involved in a full development cycle of a AAA-title, shipping at least one title; 
  • Modelling software (Zbrush and Maya in particular, others are a plus) holds no secrets for you;
  • You are very good with Substance Painter (Marvelous Designer being a plus);
  • You have at least a basic experience of node based workflows for shaders and materials;
  • Your portfolio shows a variety of (realistic) character/humanoid/droid artwork, including organic and hard surfaces;
  • You are very well known with PBR Workflows.

Nice to haves

Would be cool to have, but certainly not mandatory! 

  • Experience with skinning;
  • Experience with outsourcing (art) pipelines;
  • Experience with gibs, dismemberment and destruction;
  • Experience with Substance Designer.

Practical information

Employment: Full-time, 40 hours per week on site at the studio.

Location: Stockholm
