We are now looking for a Gameplay Programmer!
We are looking for a talented Gameplay Programmer to join one of our future game teams who will collaborate with the product leadership team in guiding, structuring and crafting the beginnings of the game development team’s features and systems. Supporting the game through prototype and pre-production, and eventually through to launch, the Gameplay Programmer will need to help identify and solve for feature and system requirements and relating this to the best way to implement in Unreal 5 and structure the game’s architecture of interactive systems and components.
Who you are:
Your role is positioned to develop these features and systems and ‘find the fun’ day to day. You will consider how we build components in a sustainable way that makes clear how other developers should craft their features and content within Unreal blueprints or code. The Gameplay Programmer on future projects is required to be highly experienced in development of game features and systems, and possess a broad understanding of all gameplay, content and systems areas for game development in the types of titles we will develop.
This role will work within the multidisciplinary game team in discovering and delivering on the best possible player experience while keeping a close eye on what is scalable, sustainable and viable to ship. The Gameplay Programmer will also partner closely with members of the Tech Foundation to keep an eye on tech debt, and also how to generalize components into the shared codebase. We want you to have:
Excellent C/C++ skills
5+ years hands on experience development multiplayer game features and systems
Ability to create dynamic systems that interact in an overlapping, emergent way
Familiarity with broad aspects of game development including gameplay, content creation, and systems
Familiarity with physics, animation, AI, and systems used to create emergent gameplay
Solid 3D math foundation in linear algebra, vectors, and matrices
You have shipped a similar title to the original HellDivers or other top-down action games
Experience with, or have shipped titles, on Unreal 4 or greater
Preproduction or Prototyping project phase experience
What you'll do;
Collaborate with Game Leadership and the development team to translate player experience goals and design into gameplay systems, features and components
Define and develop game features and systems, setting best practice and standards for how components should be built and used within Unreal 5
Building optimized solutions with memory, performance, extensibility, and network stability taken into account
Prototyping ideas and testing viability or identifying technical possibilities and obstacles
Providing guidance or assistance in creation of the game architecture
